Anther & Apiary

Suzanne Daniels Matheson is a beekeeper and artisan in Truro, Nova Scotia. She is the founder of Anther & Apiary, a line of quality skincare products that incorporate pure honey and beeswax. Suzanne is dedicated to organic beekeeping practices and educating her children about the importance of bees in our ecosystem.

Suzanne’s grandfather was a beekeeper with orchards in North Carolina - where she was raised and still visits often. When colony collapse disorder signaled a serious problem in the beekeeping community, she was compelled to join beekeeping associations in Nova Scotia, volunteer on farms, and start her own colony.

What began as a backyard zen hobby, expanded to 12 hives in 5 regions, or apiaries, across Colchester County. Anther & Apiary evolved out a deep respect for bees, a calling to educate others, and a desire to share the gifts they provide.

With over 20 years of experience in healthcare, and a background in neuroscience research and education, Suzanne’s scientific mind and passion for research keeps her deeply interested in the fascinating world of bees and beekeeping.

Suzanne has four children, three cats, one golden retriever, and nearly a million honeybees. When not tending to the bees in her apiaries, she enjoys spending time with family, connecting with customers at markets, practicing yoga, reading under the apples trees, and biking with friends.
